Lunar Mania
May 15, 2022 @ 6:30 pm
On the night of Sunday, May 15, a total lunar eclipse will take place in the skies over our region. At Liberty Science Center, that’s a moment to celebrate! Get tickets now for Lunar Mania!
LSC will be open that night from 6:30 pm to 1:00 am for a special evening of eclipse-focused fun. Join us to learn the science behind eclipses in a unique planetarium show, “All About the Eclipse,” view the night sky through telescopes, check out a fun 3D movie about a journey to the moon, experience the classic laser show, Pink Floyd’s “Dark Side of the Moon,” on the album’s 50th anniversary, and enjoy moon-themed science demonstrations, snacks, cocktails, and more.
That night, Earth’s shadow will gradually fall across the moon over the course of three and a half hours, until it is totally blocked. If the sky is clear, we should see the first “bite” out of the moon around 10:30 pm.
Our exhibitions will be open until 10:00 pm, the Cosmic Cafe will be open until 11:00 pm, and the self-serve Galaxy Grab and Go will stay open until 12:30 am. Our fellow “Lunar Maniacs” can stick around to watch the eclipse’s progress with us until 1:00 am.
Don’t miss the fun! Click here to get tickets now.
