Morris Park Plant Swap
June 8, 2019 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Free
Come over to Morris Park on Saturday, June 8th, 10am to noon. The Morris Park Neighborhood Association is sponsoring a free plant swap and neighborhood gathering at the park. Bring a plant, take home a plant. Divide one of your indoor or outdoor plants to share. The community day event is part of “Who Will Speak for the Trees”, a temporary yarn-art installation in the park.
You can stroll through park trees decorated with crocheted flowers, hearts and vines, and clad in brilliant colors. Learn to crochet a chain, and add one to the community tree!
Created by the Morris Park Neighborhood Association, Rainbow Thursdays Artists and friends, the installation will be up through the middle of June. It brings attention to the beautiful trees of Morris Park and to all the trees of Bayonne that provide shade, filter pollution, absorb stormwater runoff, soften noise and make the world beautiful.
Neighborhood Association President Jill Scipione says “You too can contribute! Show your appreciation for the trees which have worked hard for you for many years! Add a chain to the community tree. Crochet a chain of any color yarn at the event and we will add it to the tree. We will have yarn and hooks (we will teach you, it’s super easy!). Or bring one from home and add it. Please come, whether you bring a plant or not and make our community stronger. We would love to meet you! Or stop by any time and visit the park and take a selfie and post it on Trees of Bayonne on Facebook and help us spread the word about trees.”
Morris Park is located at the southwest corner of 47th St and Broadway, Bayonne.
The public is welcome, light refreshments will be provided.
