Tempest Productions Inc. is a not-for-profit professional theatre company established in 1996 to work in both Manhattan and Hudson County, NJ. In 2002, the company expanded and began producing in PA. Tempest is registered as a NJ Charitable organization and a member of the NJ Cultural Trust. Their principle mission is to provide NJ residents, primarily in Hudson County, affordable, classically based theatre and to introduce the county’s youth to live theatre through theatre workshops and interactive events
Tempest has received numerous grants for the development of community-based educational arts programs including funding from the NJ State Council on the Arts, the PA Council on the Arts and from The After School Corporation for programs in NYC. In addition, Tempest has also received funding for its cultural theatre arts performance series from the NY State Council on the Arts, the NJ State Council on the Arts and the PA Council on the Arts. Tempest has, for several years, received grants from the NJ State Council on the Arts/Department of State, a partner agency of the National Endowment for the Arts, and funds from the National Endowment for the Arts, administered by the Hudson County Office of Cultural and Heritage Affairs.
