People flock to Newport Green to enjoy its lush park, sandy beach, and scenic walking path. Community activities attract residents and visitors alike, and regular seasonal events include movie nights, running races, beach Parties and concerts, as well as a summertime carousel and wintertime ice rink. A massive, eco-friendly turf field graces one of Newport’s defining features: The Oval forms the centerpiece of Newport Green Park. Developed, funded, and maintained by Newport Associates Development Company, the park stretches over more than four beautifully landscaped acres designed by Mathews Nielsen Landscape Architects and accommodates all manner of activity with a variety of features.
Jersey City may be a mostly urban area, but there are some incredible playgrounds within the city limits. Newport Green Park Playground is one such find; it’s a rather large playground situated between skyscrapers and city streets. There’s so much to do that you might just forget you’re in the city.
